Bland Melon… ‘No Bees’

Standard

Image

Sometimes, what begins as a clever pun reveals horrific truth… A few weeks ago, the creative engine inside my soul generated an idea to re-brand a classic album cover to read: Bland Melon… No Bees!

It made sense, on a gut level, since there’s a bee girl on the cover, and part of my artistic process involves making intuitive leaps, with puns and rhymes providing the missing links… I often learn way more authentic information as I search for images in order to add the details it takes to convey the message…

I am under the impression that most folks know we are in serious trouble here… The bees were dying 10 years ago or more, and for several seasons, farmers and beekeepers have been importing millions of bees from Australia, the one continent on Earth which doesn’t suffer colony collapse disorder, or CCD as it’s often referred to… This is not a viable solution, mate! Neither is Monsanto buying a company called BeeLogics, who were actually studying the problem intensely, but got too near to the Truth…

Colony Collapse Disorder is from many things: Pesticides, Monoculture, and Beekeepers supplementing their bees’ food in the winters with High Fructose Corn Syrup… It’s the GMO corn syrup, in my opinion, that drives them crazy, while the pesticides and monoculture likely hasten their demise… All this information is searchable online, and I could provide links, but this blog is more about the art and the issues, since I don’t typically feel qualified to tackle solutions…

Furthermore, I did a search for GMO Melon, just to see what results I would get… You guessed it! Dozens of GMO Melon varieties exist, like watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, etc… Bottom line, for the future: IF YOU AREN’T SURE, ASSUME IT IS GENETICALLY ENGINEERED!!! Would you trust liars and thieves to produce your food? If you do trust ‘BLINDLY’ then you will have the sad task of explaining to your children why they have more tumors than candles on their birthday cake…

Also, I want to remind everyone that this is simply art, not solid information… I prefer to think of it as a signpost, hinting in the right direction… Like, “Hey, here is something you might want to examine more closely…” I try to provide a wake up call, but once awakened, it is up to each individual to choose how they use that awareness… I am optimistic that we will soon reach a colossal tipping point, where the WalMart Moms are screaming outrage, old ladies carrying torches and pitchforks, and corporate executives hiding underground in terror…

Another discussion that always comes up is whether or not it’s too late to fix this crisis… Well, um… I truly don’t know… BUT, if you sit on your ass and don’t spread the word, I would say you are just as guilty as those who mess with the food supply for profit… Don’t be a bystander, do something… DO ANYTHING! Raise bees! Grow food! Write your elected officials! Burn a GMO field! Make art! Whatever it takes…

And most importantly, at all costs, KEEP YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR! If you lose your joy for living, they have already won…

You Deserve A Revolution Today!

Things are gathering momentum at the farcebook page for Artists Against Monsanto!! No longer a few lonely creative souls, journeying inside an invisible bubble, it has become the community of artists and innovators that was envisioned on the day of its conception… Some make memes, some paint murals, others do street art, and still others are producing fine art on canvases that could be displayed in any gallery east of the west coast!

This is very good news, to us! We feel it is just getting started, as most of the artwork so far has been created solo, and we would like to see future collaboration, as well as public interaction… The page is developing its own following, which in turn just inspires more art to be produced… And that art has a conscious point: To save the food supply! Through creativity, humor, information, innovation, awareness, and maybe even demonstrations in the distant future…

We’re still figuring out basics though, like how to make the page functional for everyone, if possible… We believe that borrowing a corporate logo and making a satirical parody of it is absolutely okay, but we also feel that whoever put the creative effort to do that should get the credit for this… While creating the guidelines for sending us your art, this was the motivating reason for insisting it must be your production… We’ll take you at your word, now worries…

Here are the guidelines for sending us your Anti-GMO artwork:

1) Include the title of your work…

2) Send the highest quality images you possibly can… (i.e. Not a thumbnail-sized 95k file…)

3) Sign your art… (It must be something YOU created…)

4) Include the name you wish to have listed in the photo credit…

Send your anti-GMO art here: artistsagainstmonsanto@yahoo.com

Mouths Against Monsanto…

If you have ever asked the question, “What can I do?” in the face of huge global crises such as a poisoned food supply, you are not alone… It’s part of the process, and a necessary one as well, if we are to ever turn this planetary ship around… If we decide the problem is too big, or that we are too small, then we have conceded the battle before we ever get to the field… Sun Tzu was GMO-Free, and he told me we should just close our mouths…

What?!?

That is my primary weapon in my defense against the dark food arts, to close my mouth… Go Gandalf on those GMO’s and yell out, “YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!”

It’s even more important to close our mouths than opening them to tell another person about the bad news of GMO’s in our food… Way more important, enough to have a symbol like this Russian artist who sewed his mouth shut… True, I have taken artistic liberties, and given him a new cause for his expression… Gandhi would be a good spokesman for this worldwide hunger strike, eh?

This is something that EVERYONE can do… Okay, maybe someone in a coma on an IV drip might not have an option to avoid the GMO syrup, but just about everyone else does… And there is a constant need for vigilance here, because new horrors are being slipped in all the time, without our knowledge or consent… Stay aware, update daily! You don’t have to actually sew your mouth shut, but it might help to keep that image in your head a bit… Here it is up close and personal!

Food Reich…

Welcome To The Food Reich…

Monsanto has taken over the world, buying up seed companies and patenting living organisms… In a way, they are like a new Nazi regime, with their apparent agenda of poisoning us all… Armed guards are posted at their farms, and not the mall-security type… No, they rent Blackwater private security forces, troops who have been through wars…

Image

This image may get me in trouble… But I cannot care, when our very survival as a species hangs in the balance… Monsanto IS a regime, and we must take them down; politically, scientifically, economically, and punitively…

(Author’s tidbit: This image was the first I created on my new PhotoShop CS6!! I had created the same image yesterday, but the trial expired and I lost the image… This is exciting, to be using professional quality tools!)

Making art is so much fun! Especially when there is a functional point to it, like saving our planet from GMO’s…

Sometimes it doesn’t happen the way we wish, and the art takes a different turn… This happened to me while I made the following… I accidentally closed the file without saving it, just as I had finished! I liked the image so much that I went right back to work on it before I forgot all the details… But the second time around, I figured it would be cool to film it in time lapse, then narrate over it afterwards…

There are things I oopsed on, which I will keep to myself… But I am happy with the overall result… This is a game I could play!

Here is a link to the video I made…

As always, keep your diet organic, and tell everyone you know to do the same…

The Phantom Zone…

Standard

Whenever I think of the crisis on planet earth regarding our genetically tainted food supply, I have to brainstorm for solutions… I see how once we all realize GMO’s are no good for us, we’ll have to all figure out how to dispose of them… We wouldn’t want to just till up the bad genes right into the soil, as this could have longer lasting ramifications within nature’s delicate balance… Burning seems ludicrous due to the airbourne nightmares it would create, although I admit it is an appealing idea, if you need drama and climax…

What do we do with the tainted people? The Clarence Thomases, the Michael Taylors, the Bill Gates type of folks? Here’s a proposal: We create a Phantom Zone like in Superman… Krypton knew how to deal with its own genocidal maniacs, and we could take a lesson from them… Here’s how I think it would look!

Image

Deep down, though, I do feel that no one is damned, no matter what atrocities they commit… I know that may be radical thinking, but when I picture a better world, I have to include room for those ‘evil’ folks to evolve and grow too… Only when we are ALL on board with healing this planet can we begin to build a new today… Until then, send the schmucks to the Phantom Zone!!

From The Creator’s Perspective…

Standard

Hey, CMOR here… I just wanted to take a moment and share my thoughts…

Today someone commented on one of the pieces of art I produced for the Artists Against Monsanto fb page… This person said the art wasn’t punny enough, and could we please post something other than that? I immediately replied Nope, we love what we do and how we do it… Or something to that extent…

It’s a common thing I experience, when someone flippantly offers a non-constructive criticism of my art… Often they haven’t taken the time or effort to get to know me and how I roll as a creatively expressive individual… They don’t appear to notice that while I do make some funny art, as well as punny art, that’s not my goal at all… If that’s what you get from here, you missed the point… The point is that our planet is SERIOUSLY headed for disaster, possibly irreversible… That last part remains to be seen…

Image

Some folks see a piece of art and suggest their own better words to accompany it… That is fine with me, and I often reply to these people that they should make some art of their own… That way, they can not only create what they want how they want it, they can also learn the feeling of being criticized right after sharing something they made from their heart and soul…

I love making art, and it’s not going to stop… And I love how it helps the food revolution, if just in small ways… Yes, I like to keep myself laughing, but this image I share today sums up my bottom line… If you want to complain, make some art… If you are scared of GMO horrors, make some art… If your loved ones don’t understand why this is so important to you, make some art!!
